Understanding Career Pathways in the Agri-Food and Rural Skills Sector
Join us at the MacRobert Farming and Rural Skills Centre for a professional learning event designed to help education practitioners develop a deeper understanding of career opportunities within Scotland's land-based sector.
Through engagement with industry representatives and training providers, participants will explore the diverse careers available across agriculture, food and drink production, environmental management, rural skills and associated industries. The session will examine vocational, further education and higher education pathways, helping educators connect curriculum learning with Scotland's evolving workforce needs.
Participants will gain practical insight into the qualifications, skills and progression routes available to young people, strengthening their ability to provide informed careers guidance, support subject choice discussions and signpost learners towards appropriate pathways.
Participants will:

Develop a stronger understanding of the land-based and Agri-Food sectors.

Explore vocational, college and university progression routes.

Learn about training opportunities and industry requirements.

Enhance their confidence in advising pupils considering careers in the sector.

Identify opportunities to link classroom learning with real-world industry contexts.
This event provides an excellent opportunity to build connections with industry partners and training providers while gaining up-to-date knowledge to support learner destinations and career planning within your school.
